Dr. Mala is a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT 1000+) and has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 35 years.  She offers one-on-one medical yoga therapy sessions and has been trained to work with a variety of health challenges such as:  chronic pain; back and spinal problems (particularly herniated discs, and sciatica); anxiety, depression, and mood disorders; grief issues; heart disease, high blood pressure; diabetes; cancer treatment distress; sleep disorders; stress issues; emotional trauma / PTSD, autoimmune disorders, weight loss and spiritual processing and guidance.  Dr. Mala combines Medical Yoga with Neuroscience and Lifestyle Medicine to provide you with the best options for the healing the body, mind, and spirit.  Dr. Mala is affiliated with the University of Virginia and arranges consultations as needed with medical professions at the UVa Medical Center.

One-on-one

Individualized Therapeutic Medical Yoga sessions by phone, Skype or in person. 

Individualized Residential Health Retreats.

Clients can choose anywhere from a 3-day retreat to a 30-day health and wellness immersion. The health retreats are individually designed and specifically tailored to address your health needs and your symptomatology. Dr. Mala focuses on restoring health and wellness through lifestyle medicine, medical yoga therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy options.  Our goal in planning your retreat is to optimize your ability to heal and recover (physically, mentally or emotionally) — and for you to restore your body, mind, and spirit to a place of peace, harmony and balance. The health retreats are offered at two select retreat centers in Central Virginia - Bridge Between the Worlds (Keswick, Va.) and Yogaville (Buckingham, Va). Both environments are very peaceful and calm and offer the support and quiet you need for restoring your system. We offer a variety of services which include life coaching, counseling, massage, hiking trails, kayaking down the beautiful James River, delicious healthy vegetarian meals, relaxation training, yoga and meditation classes, and neuro-therapeutic options for re-wiring the brain.
