Summary of Each Lecture

Lecture One.  Navigating the River of LIfe

Summary:  How do we handle and overcome pain, disappointment, and challenges in life?  If we have not yet developed a formula or philosophy that helps us to navigate the stressors that life can bring us \ then we are at risk for making decisions that are not helpful and that can potentially create more stress and problems.  In this talk I’ll share with you five powerful concepts and an Awareness Technique that can help you to successfully navigate challenges and disappointments.

-

Lecture Two:  Outline:  Powerful Yogic Concepts for Healing

Summary:  An important part of healing begins with an understanding of the inter-connectiveness of our body, mind and spirit. Once we have a clear conceptualization of this concept, we can begin to effectively rewire our brain and our neurobiology.  In this lecture I will share how Yoga conceptualizes the human entity and how to begin working with the mind to powerfully activate healing in your system.  You will also be guided through a deeply healing awareness practice.

-

Lecture Three:  The Effects of Stress on our Neurobiology

Summary:    When we experience mental and emotional stress it activates a cascade of chemical and hormonal reactions into our system.  This lecture will focus on the issue of stress and how chronic stress negatively effects our brain and neurobiology. The concept of inter-connectiveness will be discussed along with an explanation of the Yogic Guna’s and how yoga brilliantly conceptualizes the idea of stress. This lecture will end with a calm, guided experience for how to rewire the brain and body and reduce our negative stress wiring.

-

Lecture Four:   Healing Our Emotional Blueprint

Summary:  If we want to heal ourselves we have to gently begin examining who we are and our emotional and mental patterns.  In this talk I will share with you what makes up our emotional blueprint and how to impact on deactivating our defensive mechanisms and unnecessary stress responses.  I’ll also teach you a powerful technique for relaxing the entire system which helps move us into higher levels of self-care, resiliency and self-regulation.

-

Lecture Five:  Activating Happy Hormones & Self-Assessment Strategies -

Summary:  In this talk I’m going to describe the four most common “happy hormones” and how to activate them through the practices of yoga and mindfulness.  I’ll also share with you the five awareness categories that are important for cultivating self-assessment and I’ll provide you with some specific questions to ask yourself in order to assess where you are at so you can deepen into your ability to heal.

-

Lecture Six:  The Intersection of Neuroscience, Yoga, and Mindfulness.

Summary:  Through the lens of Neuroscience we are beginning to deepen our understanding of how and why the yoga practices can so powerfully impact on our ability to heal our body and mind. In this talk I will review the concept of neuroplasticity and what neuroscience studies reveal to us regarding the yoga practices.

-

These include yoga in action and yoga in stillness.  In this talk I will share with you how to set up a daily practice of yoga and mindfulness that includes both active and passive components.  I’ll share some important practical tips and will break things down into easy and manageable pieces so you can achieve the powerful effects of yoga healing practices in your daily life.

 -

Lecture 9:   Internal Communication and Healing -  Part 2

Summary:  In this session I will be focusing on internal communication signals and the importance of deepening our awareness of what is going on within our system. When we tune into the signals between the body, mind, emotions, and nervous system it helps us to pause and to begin the process of rewiring the brain and our neurobiological circuitry so that it loops through a more positive and less stressful circuit.  I’ll also be sharing with you some helpful tips for deciphering internal communication.

 -

Lecture Ten: The Role of Intuition in Healing

Summary:  How do we access and develop our intuitive abilities?  Learning to use, access and develop our intuition takes time, focus, and consistency. In this talk I will share with you some important guidelines and tips for cultivating and listening to your intuition.  Learning how to be still and tune in to more subtle signals will enable us to use this higher guidance for healing and positive direction.
